We are pleased to welcome you to the Metropolitan Milers blog!
The Metropolitan Milers Club began with the belief that when an athlete works to improve skill and strength in the mile, skills as an athlete on the road or the track greatly improve. We believe the mile has a positive effect on every distance from 400 meters up to the marathon.
This blog will be lead by USATF level 2 Coach, Neil Fitzgerald. Coach Neil will cover topics like training cycles, racing strategies, strength development and more. Keep an eye out for posts from the “Metro Miler Chef”, Lidia Garcia on the importance of fuel to your performance and delicious recipes to keep you satisfied. Guest blog posts will cover topics like motivation, mental toughness, and meditation for sports performance.
We’ll help you stay motivated and keep your running strong while building community and learning more about this great sport from expert coaches. Our group runs also welcome youth development to help build the next generation of active and enthusiastic runners.

Metro Miler offers a calendar of USATF sanctioned mile races in New York City and weekly fun runs on the Upper West Side.
